The church I see…

I wanted to comment on some of what Pastor Peter has been sharing with me about his vision for the Baptist Union of Uganda. Why? Because it’s not that different to what Gods been talking to me about, the future of his church, ingrained in society.

Have a read of Pastor Peter’s profile to get some context, before you read my thoughts below.

This is very much my heart for the local church. That we are pioneers in enabling people to start and run their own businesses with kingdom values, in a godly way. I think the church needs to be more involved in enterprise. The Church of England currently invests with various different funds, why can’t we own those funds? And have a portfolio of companies which have been funded and grown from a kingdom set of values, that the church has accelerated, and provided initial financing to help them grow. I think this might be what I’m heading towards, but it’s still very early days, and my knowledge in these areas is very limited. But maybe that’s why I’m at IBM, in a business role, to learn. I need to get some understanding in growing startup businesses, or find a partner who has that expertise, and then I need some knowledge of angle investors, and how they work, so we can look at how as a church we could develop something similar.

Already involved in something like this, or have a heart for seeing the church
Develop something similar? I’d love to hear from you.
