Who am I?

Discovering who you think you are (your indentity, and who you really are is a great way of clarifying any belief that is holding you back (e.g. I am a failure, I’m not clever, etc). In Tony Robbins book, he focused on who I think I am, and asking myself the question. Which I think is great, and an excellent way to identify some of the good (and also the negative) things we believe about ourselves.
In my 40 day’s to a World Changer, we are doing something similar. Banning asks, as one of the activation exercises this week, to write down who God says you are. Take some time, get along with God. Welcome him in, and ask him who he says you are. I think this is critical, and in a way, more important than who we say we are. The creator knows who He made you to be, and what He’s called and equipped you to do! So I’ve included the list we came up with below (both who I think I am, and who God said I am). You might think it’s a little proud, but I can’t help having a father who loves me, so instead of being annoyed at who God thinks I am, spend some time asking him who he knows you are.

I am the son of a perfect Father

I am a son of Linda & Jeremy

I am a child of the living God

I am loved

I am gifted

I am skilled

I am blessed and highly favoured

I am an ambassador for the Kingdom of God

I am curious

I am committed

I am intelligent

I am in control

I am submitted

I am growing

I am a graduate

I am a first class student

I am a friend/companion

I am a teacher, explainer, truth revealer

I am special, unique, one of a kind

I am valuable, desirable

I am generous, kind, loving

I am an example

I am apostolic, entrepreneurial

I am inclusive

I am brave, daring, courageous

I am humble, self-less

I am hardworking, faithful

I am God’s chosen representative

I am influential, successful

I am respected

I am a steward

I am loving

I am perfect

I am a saint, son, inheritor

I am chosen, called, commissioned, sent

I am purpose-driven

I am spirit filled

I am protected, safe, comforted

Now I may struggle to walk in these all the time, and I may not feel like I am all of them, but that’s what God says I am, and that’s where my identity needs to be set in. It is who I really am, even when I choose not to believe it, or act like it.

Why not take some time this week to ask God who you are? I would love to hear your experience in the comments.
