Walking in Generosity

You might think it’s easy to be generous in a country that your considered rich in, but it’s actually quite difficult, for reasons I have discussed in previous posts. But I’ve adapted what Mark and Liz suggested in a recent comment, and that’s to bargain people down to a reasonable price, and then pay them what they asked for in the first place. I love this approach, because it reinforces my desire not to allow them to take advantage of me (by getting them to agree to a lower price) and allow me to bless them by giving above and beyond what they expected.

I did this with one of the taxi conductors today, he was a very chatty guy asked me lots of questions about the UK, my family and my plan while I was hear. When I gave him the original amount he asked for you could tell he was both surprised, and grateful, which is always a good response!

If you have any ideas about how to be generous here in Uganda, I would love to hear them in the comments!
