Child Sponsorship

Many of your who read this blog, like me, will be supporting children all over the world by providing education, food and clothes through child sponsorship. I myself have a wonderful little boy in Ethiopia, called Gemtu, who I sponsor through Compassion (compassion.org). Soapbox (the organisation who organised my trip) has a similar project here, based with the church I’m currently with.
During the week I had the great opportunity to be part of their termly gatherings at the church (they meet all together, both primary and secondary, once a term), and to chat to some of the children who have benefitted from the project.

I’ve also been chatting recently with someone my age, called Oscar, who was sponsored all the way through the project and is now studying at University (thanks to the great start his sponsor gave him). He’s very grateful to the IBM Software Developer in the US, who committed to making a difference in his life. Pastor Peter has also mentioned his children were sponsored by people throughout their education, and even during university, to which, he is eternally grateful for.

As a sponsor, its nice to just be part of it, and to see the money that people have so faithfully given being put to good use, and having an impact in the lives of so many children. So to those of you who sponsor a child, a thank you.
